Rotary projects around the globe

Every month, Rotary Clubs all over the world are working hard in their local communities to make a difference. Here’s a sample of what our friends have been up to:

A Rotary Club in Iowa leased an abandoned hospital and turned it into a haunted Halloween fundraiser attracting visitors from across the state. Proceeds are donated back into the community.

Rotary clubs in Jamaica joined together to provide relief packages to many southwestern coastal communities that were hard-hit when the “storm of the century”, Hurricane Melissa swept across the island with 185 mph winds.

In Hungary, the Rotary Club of Budapest-Margitsziget held a charity wine auction. Local wineries and three other clubs — Berlin-Gendarmenmarkt, Milano Sud-Ovest, and Paris-Quai d’Orsay — donated signature wines from their countries. The auction raised $17,000 to help construct a residential home for children with disabilities.

On the Indian Ocean island of Mauritius, Rotary Club of Haute Rive helped coordinate a job and education fair to connect job seekers with employers in hospitality, financial services, information technology, manufacturing, education, retail, and other industries to help the workforce shift from agriculture dominated by sugar to an economy centered on technology, banking, and tourism.

The Rotary Club of Saigon, Vietnam’s Heart-to-Heart project has saved the lives of 100 Vietnamese children since 2023 by funding surgery to correct congenital heart disease. The program helps low-income families bridge the gap between what the government covers and what they’re able to pay out of pocket. The impact on livelihoods is significant because caregivers are able to return to the work after their child’s recovery.
