Guided by Rotary’s motto, Service Above Self, Rotary District 7450 Gundaker Foundation donated a total of $27,000 to 25 different local food cupboards, reinforcing Rotary’s commitment to addressing food insecurity at the local level.  Rotary Clubs in the SE PA District were able to apply for a $1,000 grant to support their local food cupboard. Twenty-seven clubs participated in the program and their volunteers often have relationships with the local food banks and cupboards, frequently volunteering to pack food for delivery to individuals and families in need.

This special grant, offered by the Rotary District 7450 Gundaker Foundation, enables Rotarians to stock their local food cupboard with essential items, including pantry staples and other high-need goods. These efforts will directly benefit individuals and families across the SE PA community who are experiencing food insecurity.

“Food insecurity is a challenge that affects many of our neighbors,” said Francy Cross, Gundaker Foundation President.  “By supporting the local food cupboard, we’re able to turn compassion into action and make a positive difference right here in our community.”

The food cupboards have expressed sincere appreciation for the Rotary District 7450 Gundaker Foundation support, noting that community partnerships play a vital role in meeting the growing demand for food assistance.

“We really depend upon a lot of community organizations like our own,” said Owen Pazderak, Volunteer Coordinator for Share Food Program.“ But even more this year since we lost a lot of our Federal funding, we’ve had to tap back into our local networks more for help.”

The Gundaker Foundation and the Rotary Clubs of SE PA remain committed to addressing critical local needs and strengthening the community through service projects that improve lives and bring people together.

This partnership underscores Rotary’s commitment to hands-on service and collaboration with local organizations.
