First Rotary SE PA Member as Ambassador to WASH Action Group

Rotary member from SE PA, Thomas McKeon, has earned the honor of becoming an Ambassador for WASH-RAG, the Rotary Action Group promoting Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene. This is the first time Rotary SE PA has ever had a WASH-RAG Ambassador.

The announcement, made by District Governor, Janice Biros, explained. that Thomas McKeon began his 5-year term as Ambassador. Among his duties will be: Increasing awareness about WASH programs; advocacy; providing technical and/or logistical support, or referring to the appropriate professional; and make presentations to Rotary Clubs and at District events; work with clubs on WASH programs;

McKeon—whose background is in public health and geographic data science—is passionate about Water, Sanitation and Hygiene and looks forward to connecting Rotary clubs with resources that can help with environmental health literacy.

“As a WASH Ambassador, my goal is to help District 7450 clubs, and the broader WASH-RAG network, strengthen and expand their water and sanitation work by connecting Rotary with the wider WASH community," he said. McKeon is currently a PhD. student at Temple University and his research focuses on the intersection of geographic science, environmental health, and climate justice. He is interested in assessing the risk of emerging public health issues around toxic environmental exposures faced by vulnerable communities in areas projected to experience significant flooding due to climate change.

WASH Rotary Action Group’s mission is to support and ensures sustainable long-lasting clean water, sanitation, and hygiene programs to communities in need.
